Environmental Studies
|
This free, one-day, field trip was attended by 4th through 11th grade students from public, private, and home school organizations.
Campers:
- Designed an environmentally and economically friendly acre of land
- Explored wetlands and watersheds including the effects of soil erosion, water absorption, and filtration
- Learned about land use in urban and rural areas, smart growth, and approaches to protecting open land for current and future uses
- Practiced their presentation skills with a team member
- Used laptop computers to create and publish a newsletter that included the students' personal environmental research findings and described their learning experiences on the farm
